History and background.
In the beginning a web page was just plain text. It wasn't very pretty to look at, there were no pictures, animations, or movies, just plain ordinary text. But it did serve a purpose, it communicated a message and made information available. That was all it was supposed to do.
Today things are different, the message or information we wish to share can be in a movie, sound, flashing animations, you name it. Does your business need to have your message available?

We learned how to write the code that makes web pages when all that was available was Notepad. Everything had to typed out, no shortcuts here. But that was OK and the reason it was, it forced us to learn web page design from the ground up. We had to know exactly what to type (without mistakes) and what the outcome was going to be.
We learned web page design so well that we acquired Certified Internet Webmaster certification. We learned web page design so well that we became a certified instructor and now teach web site design at a local community college.
